'Bishop Monkton Today' is making a fresh appeal for volunteers to get involved in running this website. Two weeks ago, the Editor, Colin Philpott, announced that he needs to give up the role for personal reasons and an appeal went out for people who might be interested in working on the site.

Since then, one person has offered to help with photographs for the site but there have been no offers from people able to help editorially. As things stand, without sufficient people to help run the site, it is possible that 'Bishop Monkton Today' will have to close.

The site continues to attract plenty of visitors. In March it averaged 124 unique visitors and 408 page hits per day. The most read stories in March were:- our 'Monkton Movers' feature on Stancey Coughlan and news stories on the BBC filming at the VH, the bomb found in the river and the resignation of the editor of this site. Since the site was relaunched last October, there have been 89,232 page hits.

Colin Philpott said:- "It will be a great shame if 'Bishop Monkton Today' closes as it provides regularly updated, properly checked news and features about our village and it is clearly valued by villagers. However, there's quite a bit of work involved in making it happen and it needs a minumum of two people gathering and writing news on a regular basis for it to be sustainable. For personal reasons I need to stop my involvement and that leaves just one editorial person in the current team. I hope someone else will come forward to help out. Volunteering on the website is a worthwhile way of supporting your local community and it keeps you connected to village life."
