Monktoner Phil Goodier has completed one of the most prestigious milestones in running - finishing the world's six most important marathons known as the 'majors'.

Phil finished his final 'major' in Boston in the US yesterday (Monday) in a time of 4 hours 19 minutes. He had previously run in London (back in 2004), New York (twice), Chicago, Berlin and Tokyo.

Phil told us - "I made it - a fantastic run with a slowish time due to the heat and hills, but an amazing course with fantastic support."

Phil, who is Chair of the Village Hall and also a Parish Councillor, has also run various other marathons in other parts of the world. Congratulations Phil - now it's back to pounding the lanes of North Yorkshire - and 'running' the Village Hall!
