North Yorkshire Council have confirmed that they have told the developers of the former Lamb and Flag site that they need to put a wall at the front of the converted pub instead of wooden fences.

In a statement to 'Bishop Monkton Today' the Council told us:- "We have requested that the wall be constructed in accordance with the approved site plan, and we are continuing dialogue with the developer. We will review the case to consider any appropriate course of action if the ongoing dialogue is not successful."

Several months ago, a number of villagers complained to the Council that they thought the fences built by the developer as part of the conversion were unsuitable and not in keeping with the surrounding architecture. The original planning application promised a wall although the developers have previously disputed whether the wall was a condition of planning permission.

We have approached the developer, Ashfield Homes, for their reaction to the Council statement but we have not yet had a response from them.
