The village is likely to face disruption over the next few days as a result of bad weather and planned roadworks.

The current weather forecast is predicting sleet for Bishop Monkton tonight and into Sunday followed by rain on Monday. North Yorkshire as a whole is the subject of amber and yellow alerts for snow and ice.

In addition, the resumption of roadworks by Yorkshire Water to connect the Lamb housing development to the water supply is scheduled from this coming Monday to Wednesday. The works will mean the closure of Boroughbridge Road by the Lamb with the only way to and from the Roecliffe Road via Main Street and the ford near the Mechanics. Two previous attempts to complete the work before Christmas were unsuccessful.

As ever, there is always the possibility that the works don't take place at the last minute!
