I just wanted to let people know that I am going to step down as Editor of ‘Bishop Monkton Today’. Other priorities and commitments including grandparenting, other volunteering roles, being away quite a bit plus various other things I want to do, all mean that I don’t have enough time to devote to the website editor role and to do it properly.

I have worked on ‘Bishop Monkton Today’ for five years - helping Richard Field from the beginning of the pandemic. And for almost a year now, since Richard’s enforced departure through illness, I have been Editor.

I have really enjoyed it and it’s great to see how much people in the village value the website. I’m proud of the team we’ve brought together and the changes we have been able to make in the past twelve months whilst maintaining Richard’s legacy.

I’ll be sticking around for a little while yet until we can get some new arrangements in place. And this is where we need your help. Even without my departure, the team is short of people.

There are currently only two of us (Glenda Hunter and myself) contributing stories on a regular basis. We have the benefit of technical and other support from Steve Oliver and Martin Minett and Paul Wade is making a valuable contribution with his regular series ‘Monkton Movers’.

However, we need more people interested in finding news and writing about it on a regular basis; we need people who can liaise with local organisations to help them input material onto the site; and we need people who can take good photographs.

It’s an interesting and rewarding thing to do and gets you involved and connected to village life. If you’re interested, please either email or call me on 07791 341074.

We have a meeting of the current team on the afternoon of Tuesday 8th April to which anyone interested in getting involved will also be invited.

I very much hope 'Bishop Monkton Today' can go from strength to strength in the future.
