Poems & Verse

We welcome poems or other pieces of writing, humorous, whimsical or thoughtful which are relevant to life in Bishop Monkton.

A CASCADE POEM - CHILDHOOD DREAMS by Charlotte Bigg.

We are delighted to publish another one of Charlotte's excellent poems. Probably a very apposite composition given the very wet and soggy Thursday we all endured last week.

Charlotte says "I wrote this after a class with my niece, Kate, who does online courses".

Splashing through puddles

There’s a hole in my welly

Wet socks ruined the day

I remember when

Childhood joy was nothing more than

Splashing through puddles

Walking with parents

I couldn’t stop thinking

There’s a hole in my welly

It was a glorious afternoon

Teatime treats and more, but

Wet socks ruined the day

Splashing through puddles

There’s a hole in my welly

Wet socks ruined the day
