Christian Aid week always falls in the second year of May and this year's annual fund raising drive began on May 11th, ending on Saturday May 17th. Held every year since 1957, it is the longest continuously running fundraising campaign in Britain. Last year, local fundraising events and collections by volunteers raised almost £12,000,000 for the work of this charity.

The village has supported this initiative for many years and any donations, whatever their size, are much appreciated. Just place whatever you can afford into your Christian Aid envelope, take it along to Sunday service or pop it through either the Chapel post box or leave at the Vicarage by, at the latest, Sunday May 18th. This year's appeal was launched by a joint Anglican/Methodist service at St. John's, attended by 38 people. A total of £434.30 was raised last year.

Your donation will help fund vital training for farmers to equip them to fight the effects of the climate crisis, with this year's fundraising week focussing on the struggles of Guatemalan communities.

Christian Aid’s early origins lie in the organisation, Christian Reconstruction in Europe (CRE), founded 80 years ago by major British and Irish churches to raise funds for the relief and resettlement of refugees made homeless during the Second World War.
