What Will We Do Without Them!
BISHOP MONKTON TODAY
“Many thanks for all the positive and helpful responses received following my post on Monday about the impending retirements of both our fantastic milkman and milk-lady, David & Christine, and Trevor (in the absence of a photograp of Trevor!), our cheerful postman. We shall all miss them - of that there is no doubt.
From comments received it would appear that the village are very eager to mark their retirements in some way and so I have made the following arrangements. The timetable is quite a short one, so I have had to move things along. I hope everyone will be happy with what I have put in place.
1. From Friday evening there will be two different coloured, clearly marked, donation boxes in the Masons, one for David & Christine & one for Trevor. Thanks to Gary and Lesley for happily “hosting” these. There will also be two separate large cards for signature, saying thank you or sharing your reminiscences (or all three if you wish). Please pop in and donate or just sign, whatever you wish to do. If you wish to donate, but can't get to the pub during its opening hours, then post an envelope, clearly marked with the intended recipient, through the letterbox. The boxes will be there until the end of the month. Cash only please.
2. There will also be two separate cards (but no donation boxes) circulating around the village for people to sign. (Please don't sign both cards.) These cards will be at the Chapel this Sunday, 20th, at the Village Coffee on the 22 nd and at Singing for Fun on Thursday 24th. They will be at the Church service on Sunday 27 th.
3. As you know last date for doorstop delivery is Saturday October 3 rd and one suggestion was that individual homes be decorated on that day. So, if you wish, why not get out the bunting, balloons and decorations and let Christine & David know, as they drive round with their last milk bottles rattling away in the back of the van, the high regard in which the village holds them.
And please, please, please, pass the word along to all those villagers who are not on Facebook or do not use the internet so that everyone has every possible opportunity to say thank you.”
