Yorkshire Water say they have no further comment to make about their performance in the village after stinging criticism from two leading Monktoners published earlier this week on 'Bishop Monkton Today'.

Martin Minett and Sheila Parsons criticised the company's record over roadworks and over sewerage issues. Sheila asked why the roads near her home in the centre of the village had been left in such a mess after recent work by YW and also by NYC. Martin expressed his frustration with the company over the recent disruption caused by the prolonged series of road closures associated with the new development at the Lamb and Flag. He said that these latest difficulties followed many years of what he believes is a track record of treating the village badly over drainage infrastructure and other matters.

YW told us that they were not going to respond to these specific complaints and referred us to their earlier statement last weekend to criticism voiced by Masons' landlaord, Gary Cross, who described the company as 'not fit for purpose'. In that statement, YW thanked villagers for their patience during recent road closures and other planned closures which were cancelled at short notice.
