Burton Leonard Post Office have let us know the current position with postal deliveries. Yesterday (Tuesday) there was a stop on deliveries to villages round here including Bishop Monkton because of the weather. However, today (Wednesday) they are, in theory, delivering again although, of course, they now have a backlog. We understand that decisions on whether deliveries are on or off will be taken on a day by day basis while the cold spell continues.

But the village's weekly bin collection today did take place despite the weather - a big thank you to our refuse teams who braved the cold and the very treacherous conditions. Today was the end of the period during which bin collections were affected by the Christmas/New Year holiday. Next week things are due to be back to normal with blue bins and bag recycling collections scheduled for Tuesday.
