The water industry regulator, OFWAT, has intervened in the row over the connection of the Lamb and Flag housing development to the water supply.

Last week the developer complained to OFWAT, about Yorkshire Water's delay in completing the connection to the five new homes which were finished last November. Ashfield say they have had an apology from the YW Chief Executive and a promise that the work would be completed successfully in the very near future.

OFWAT said in a statement:- ""We have contacted Yorkshire Water about this issue, and we have urged the company to fix this problem as soon as possible. We expect all water companies to help customers when they encounter problems and provide a high level of customer service. We will continue to monitor progress from Yorkshire Water."

YW have announced new dates for what will be their seventh attempt to connect the Lamb and Flag development to the water supply. The work, which will involve the closure of Boroughbridge Road outside the Lamb, is now scheduled to take place next week from Monday 17th to Wednesday 19th February.

The six previous attempts have included four occasions when YW had given notice of work and then failed to turn up. On the two occasions they did get on site, the connection work was unsuccessful. According to the developer, Ashfield Homes, this was because YW had brought the wrong equipment.

One of the homes, the former holiday let behind the pub, has been sold. Two semis, built in the former pub, and two completely new houses, built in the former pub carpark, remain on the market.
