A Bishop Monkton resident is calling on the Parish Council to investigate improved street lighting on Boroughbridge Road. Sally Scott, who lives in Renton Close, says that she feels uneasy walking from her home into the centre of the village after dark because of the limited street lighting.

Sally told us:- "There is a significant stretch of the Borougbridge Road that is without any streetlights, and on dark evenings with no moon, it is difficult to distinguish between the pavement and the road. I value the dark skies we enjoy in this area, but one or two extra streetlights, perhaps of the fairly short type that they have in Burton Leonard, would greatly improve pedestrians' confidence and sense of being safe on the affected stretch of the Boroughbridge Road."

Sally has asked the PC to put the matter on the agenda for its next meeting. She also told us she believes that she can't be alone in being concerned about the issue.
