The long-running saga of the Lamb and Flag fences could be edging closer to a conclusion.

North Yorkshire Council planners have promised a final decision 'early next week' on whether to enforce the removal of the controversial fences at the new housing development following the developer's refusal to take them down. A spokeswoman for NYC told us:- "A final assessment will be made early next week as to whether enforcement action is taken."

Earlier this week, the developer, Ashfield Homes, told us yet again that they had no intention of removing the fences claiming that the building of a wall instead, outlined in the original planning application, had not been a condition of the granting of planning permission. The Council had previously said they had asked Ashfield to remove the fences and that they were considering enforcing that request.

The row started last Summer when a number of BM residents complained to the Council that the fences were unsightly and out of keeping with the surrounding architecture.

However, it remains to be seen whether NYC planners, who clearly believe that the fences should come down, will want to go to the trouble of taking action to enforce their removal.
