More than twenty-five people have already expressed an interest in joining a village walking group being set up by Emma Oates as she recovers from medical treatment.

Emma told us:- " As part of my rehab, I am planning on beginning leading a regular walking group. To meet probably once a fortnight (or what ever suits most people) on a weekday, taking in walks both from our lovely village (I know them all! and walks from slightly further afield (Ripon, Ripley, Knaresborough etc etc). I’ll aim to recce all routes too.

I'm planning distances of 5kms to around 8/10kms and obviously taking in a coffee/cake stop wherever possible! (The important stuff!)

This is open to anyone and I will aim to keep the routes easy underfoot (but I can’t change the weather) and therefore accessible.

I’m getting nearer the end of treatment now and so I aim to start this venture mid June, just in time for summer!

What better way to get out and enjoy nature? All you need is a good pair of walking boots/trainers, a raincoat and a sense of fun and adventure!
