There's another chance next week to see the film presented by Bishop Monkton schoolchildren about the history of education in our village.

The film 'Best Years of Our Lives' will be shown twice next Wednesday (25th June) - at 3.45pm in the School Hall and at 7pm in the Village Hall. Admission is free and there's no need to book. The film lasts just under 40 minutes.

Around 100 people saw the film when it was first screened last month and it received a lot of favourable feedback. The film contains a mixture of anecdotes and historical research and includes archive material from over a hundred years ago up to the present day. It includes the history of the Mechanics' Institution, which was once a centre of adult education, as well as the village school.

Copies of the book produced as part of the same project will be for sale at the screenings. The book contains 128 pages and over 60 illustrations and costs £10 (cash or contactless) with proceeds after production costs going to the Friends of Bishop Monkton School.
