A 50mph speed limit on the A61 between Ripon and Ripley is coming into force. Signs have been installed in the last couple of days heralding the start of the new lower speed limit agreed last year by NYC.

A spokeswoman for NYC told us - "It is legal when the signs are in place. They are due to be in place by the end of the month."

The new limit has been introduced following a number of fatal road accidents on this stretch of the A61 in recent years.

The 40mph limit through Wormald Green will remain.
