The Croquet Club was founded in 2008 by a group of enthusiastic villagers and now has about 60 members from Bishop Monkton, Ripon, Harrogate, Knaresborough and surrounding villages. It is one of the largest clubs in Yorkshire and, arguably, one of the best with excellent facilities including a clubhouse and two excellent lawns.

Play is available every day of the week from mid-April to mid-October subject to the needs of organised matches and lawn maintenance. There are five organised club afternoons and two club evenings every week, to which all members are welcome to turn up and play.

There is a full programme of friendly matches with other clubs, competition play in the Yorkshire and Cross-Pennine Leagues, internal club competitions and a full calendar of social events. The club is the responsibility of a committee of eight members who meet monthly throughout the year.
