During his visit to the village earlier this week, recently-elected local MP, Sir Alec Shelbrooke, took time to sit down with 'Bishop Monkton Today' to tell us a bit about himself and his views.

Conservative Sir Alec represents the newly-created constituency of Wetherby and Easingwold which includes Bishop Monkton.

He talks about his background and gives us his views on key local issues, on various current, national political controversies including plans to increase inheritance tax on farmers and the removal of the winter fuel payment from most pensioners.
