Site Guide
I hope you are enjoying the new, updated ‘Bishop Monkton Today’. Here’s a quick guide to help find stuff.
The homepage will be a sort of teaser and trail to highlight things on the site whether it’s important news stories, big upcoming events or other things of interest. It will also include a ‘picture of the week’ – an image from the village which is memorable in some way.
Just to help you find your way around the site, there are three particular sections I would draw your attention to first.
The news pages will normally be updated every day – If you’re on a desktop or laptop you will see the most recent stories in the ‘stack’ on the right hand side of the homepage. You can also access previous news stories by clicking on ‘see all’ on the right hand side there. On a mobile, you access news stories by clicking on the three line icon on the top left of the homepage and selecting ‘News’.
Secondly, the events list which is also accessible on the right hand side of a desktop homepage or via the top-left icon on a mobile. This lists events in chronological order with the events happening soonest at the top of the list.
And thirdly, under the ‘Alerts’ section, we provide information about how to access information sources about flood risks, weather forecasts, road closures, bin collections etc. We will do our best to make these accurate but, as we all know, sometimes information provided by the relevant authorities cannot always be relied on e.g. planned road closures.
The site also contains many other pages with information about village organisations, amenities and services. We have sections on some vital organisations including the Parish Council, the Village Hall, the school, the churches and the pub. We have sections covering key planning issues, sections for village clubs and sports, information about local services and amenities, walks and local history.
Finally, we have ‘Comment’ pages for your comments and contributions as well as some information about the website team in ‘About Us’.
Please explore the site to find out about all the many things going on within our wonderful community.
