YW ROADWORKS DUE MONDAY IN DOUBT

It seems unlikely that work by Yorkshire Water to connect the new Lamb and Flag development to the water supply, due to take place from Monday to Wednesday this week, will go ahead. Even before the heavy snow overnight, a roadsign announcing the necessary road closure put up last week had disappeared. The road closure means the only way to and from Roecliffe is via Main Street and the ford. It is still listed on the NYC roadworks map as 'about to start' but, given the weather, that now seems unlikely.

"Bishop Monkton Today' has contacted Yorkshire Water to try to get a definite answer as to whether the work will start tomorrow. If we get a response, we will update this story.

There have already been two previous closures before Christmas to carry out this work but, for reasons unknown, the work wasn't able to be completed.
