LATEST UPDATE FROM YORKSHIRE WATER

Yorkshire Water say they had to cancel the work scheduled today in the village due to illness but they can't yet say when the work will take place.

A spokeswoman told us:- "We will work with the local authority highways planning team to reschedule this work and also to let local residents, who may be affected by traffic management, know what diversions may be in place and when. Once we have the date rescheduled and have informed local residents and businesses in the area, it will take three days to complete the works."

Works had been due to start today (Monday) on Boroughbridge Road near the ford in the village to connect the water supply to new properties. Signs warning of road closures appeared in the village late last week. More signs appeared first thing this morning. A few hours later the signs disappeared.

The YW spokeswoman added:- "Unfortunately, we can’t give a definitive new date for the work as it is dependent on the NYC highways team and whether they have other works taking place nearby."
