All Hallow's Eve may well be one of the scariest nights of the year, but it could be classified as one of the most enjoyable ones as well.

Ghosts, phantoms, skeletons, witches, apparitions and even a life size T Rex, were out in force on Thursday night prowling the highways and byways of Bishop Monkton to celebrate Halloween. And everyone, by all reports, had a wonderful time following the trail created by the Friends of Bishop Monkton School. There were ten decorated properties dotted around the village, with the good-natured trick and treating along the way being suitably rewarded.

Much appreciation was expressed to householders who had made such a huge effort to decorate their homes in keeping with the “spirit” of the occasion, so that the seemingly hundreds of children who took part could have a “wail” of a time.

Many homeowners who stayed behind closed doors to welcome their ghoulish visitors with sweets and treats were kept constantly busy, with many remarking on the politeness of the children.

A resounding success-well done to everyone who played their part in the haunting of Bishop Monkton, from those who organised the trail, those who decorated their homes and last, but not least, those who took part. A spellbinding evening.
