The Halloween trail around the village has been a popular Autumn event in years past and, if plans work out, it is hoped that there may be sufficient enthusiasm for it to happen again in 2024.

The Friends of Bishop Monkton School (FOBMS), who are working hard to make the trail a success, are urgently appealing for the support of more villagers. Seven households have already volunteered to display a laminated letter hidden amongst Halloween artefacts, strategically placed around the outside of their homes. But more houses are needed. There is a trail sheet that is filled in with each letter spotted and these are then rearranged to work out a Halloween themed word. The completed sheets are handed in and entered into a prize draw.

If it goes ahead, the trail will take place around the village during half term week (October 28th to November 1st) and ideally all houses will be in the centre of the village, but any house, wherever it is, that is suitably adorned with ghostly and ghoully decorations, will be welcomed. Children just love taking part.

This is simply a fun and free event for children of all ages and is aimed not just at pupils at the school, but encompasses all children in the village, as well as visiting grandchildren. The more the merrier. Donations however, are always welcome.

The organisers wish to express their gratitude to those villagers who have already volunteered and urge anyone with an artistic flair to come forward and get involved.

If any villager would like to be involved, please get in touch with Ruth Alcock from FOBMS via Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/561249501160979/
