ANOTHER PICTURE EMERGES OF ARMY BRIDGING SITE IN BM
BISHOP MONKTON TODAY
Another picture has come to light of the Bishop Monkton Wet Bridging Site which played a crucial role in the Second World War- the third such picture to emerge in the last few months. The latest picture is thought to be from 1950 (the Bridging Site continued in use for many years after WW2) and it was posted on the 'Ripon Relics and Old Finds' Facebook Group about ten days ago. Someone commenting on the post also provided some names of people in the photo - namely, Vic Atkinson, Arthur Anderson, Charlie Bloomfield and Mr. Leatham.
Two other pictures came to light last year - thought to be of the BM site, found by Adrian 'Gunner' Mardon which came from the Bovington Tank Museum, although it's not certain if the images are definitely Bishop Monkton. This was our story about this back in October.
If you can throw any more light on all of this, do email us.
