If you enjoy a good book read then take a look at the North Yorkshire Council Home Library Delivery Service. As well as a practical service it is also a personal one allowing books/audio books to be delivered to you in the comfort of your own home by a friendly volunteer, usually with time for a short chat too!

This free service is available to people or families who perhaps may find it difficult to get to their local library due to age, illness, a disability or who are at home caring for someone. The service is also offered to people who live in residential settings.

Books are delivered every two weeks or monthly depending on your preference, on an agreed day and time. You may borrow books for as long as you need and there are no fines or overdue charges levied.

The service may be used on a temporary basis, i.e. over the winter months or for short-term reasons such as illness, new baby, etc.

To join the NY home library delivery service you need to either telephone 01609 533800 or email click. To contact Ripon LIbrary direct telephone 01609 536623. To find out more about the county library service in general click or for Ripon Library click.

After you let your local library know that you're interested in using this service, a volunteer or staff member will visit you at home to help you join the library (if you are not already a member), find out what types of books you like or dislike, ask if you prefer ordinary print, large print or audiobooks and create a detailed reader profile, which will be used to select books matching your interests.

Happy Reading!
