Cricket

During the 2024 Season the senior team had to drop out of the Nidderdale Saturday League due to a shortage of players.  This problem has grown increasingly worse in recent years and is affecting many clubs in the area and across England.

Despite the disbandment of the senior team  the junior section has continued and will have All Stars, u9 and u11 teams in 2025. Training is on Friday evenings and is great village social event. All coaches are ECB qualified and DBS checked.

Knaresborough CC 3rd team will use the ground in 2025 so cricket will continue and it also hoped that the North Yorkshire age group games will again be hosted in the village. If you are interested in hiring the ground, or to find out more about the club, please click to email.

It is hoped that with a junior section going senior cricket in Bishop Monkton will one day be able to restart.

The Local History Group website has a good coverage of the club, from the first match incorporating Bishop Monkton (1816) through to joining the league (early 1920's) and up to more recent times.  Click to visit the site
